Organization or School Affiliation: Fairhaven High School
Student Name: Savannah Morris Grade: Grade 11 Artist Statement: I choose to specifically address the issue of pollution in oceans as it seriously affects the environments of animals. I approached this by showing the aftermath of humans' decisions on the environment. As many individuals think it's just one piece of trash and can't be that harmful. Teacher: Christine Neville
Moynihan Train Hall
Organization or School Affiliation: Fairhaven High School
Student Name: Victor Ferreira Grade: Grade 12 Artist Statement: At Railcamp 2023 we were given a tour of the Moynihan Trainhall, I was drawn to the view, and the symmetry of the people in it. It felt like something was purposely pulling me towards that spot, call it fate or destiny. That is, in my opinion, the most beautiful spot in the train hall. Overall, I look back on my time at Railcamp and the Trainhall fondly, and it fuels my passion for my dream. Teacher: Christine Neville
Spacebound Greenhouse
Organization or School Affiliation: Fairhaven High School
Student Name: Aaron Palhota Grade: Grade 12 Artist Statement: For the final project of FHS’s Digital Art 2 class, I was instructed to find an artist who I liked, study their style, and incorporate parts of their style into a piece. I gravitated to Lynn Chen, with her cozy style combining simple shapes and appealing textures. I attempted to put these elements into my own art, while also exploring an environment Lynn Chen’s pieces typically do not: space. Teacher: Christine Neville
Ocean Pollution
Organization or School Affiliation: Fairhaven High School
Student Name: Lauren Souza Grade: Grade 10 Artist Statement: The meaning behind my work is how pollution can ruin beauty. The earth, and in my case the oceans are beautiful places that serve as habitats and grow many forms of life. Humans, animals, and plants can live in unison as long as humans work to protect these things. Many people are careless and throw their trash anywhere. These pieces can end up in the dirt, eaten by animals, and in the waters. Teacher: Christine Neville
Parallel Worlds
Organization or School Affiliation: Fairhaven High School
Student Name: Madeline Gamelin Grade: Grade 10 Artist Statement: High School is the final preparation for the real world, it is meant to prepare students for the next major stage of their life both mentally, and physically. I wanted to form a parallel between the halls of Fairhaven high school, and the real world. While my time at FHS still represents a part of my childhood, it also represents my introduction to adulthood, and the “real world”. Teacher: Christine Neville
Dona Dona
Organization or School Affiliation: Wayland High School
Student Name: Meadow Long Grade: Grade 10 Artist Statement: "Dona Dona" is a song from 1941, an original Yiddish folk song about a calf in the early morning being shipped to a slaughter. I was inspired by this moment, wanting to depict that vulnerable moment before the slaughter. I chose a lamb, because they represent innocence, and placed it on a decorative blanket, inspired by folk pottery you might see in an antique shop. Teacher: Amy O'Connell
Distracted
Organization or School Affiliation: Canton High School
Student Name: Alyssa Hanlon Grade: Grade 10 Artist Statement: My work was inspired by my day-to-day life as a teenager. My subject is lost and being taken away from reality as the time goes on. With long exposure photography I am able to show how time passes, and illustrate how foggy and puzzled our minds can become as we are more distracted by technology. By doing this work I learned how I could use photography to show this intangible idea.
Teacher: Patricia Palmer, Canton High School
Little Gem Frog
Organization or School Affiliation: Canton High School
Student Name: Caitlin Tureski Grade: Grade 10 Artist Statement: This gem frog ring holder was brought back from Poland by my great, great, great, great grandfather when he immigrated to New York. He gave this ring holder to his wife, my great, great, great, great grandmother, and then it was passed down through generations. This ring holder shows something beautiful from where he came from, and makes me feel closer to my ancestors. Teacher: Patricia Palmer, Canton High School
The Puzzle Master
Organization or School Affiliation: Canton High School
Student Name: Stacey Pierre Grade: Grade 10 Artist Statement: In this image, my subject is seen holding a puzzle piece while many other pieces fall from above her. By exploring the world of pictorialist portraiture, I’ve learned how to set a mood within a picture by considering the details that tell the story of my subject. Teacher: Patricia Palmer, Canton High School
Trypophobic Greens
Organization or School Affiliation: Canton High School
Student Name: Sonja Getgano Grade: Grade 12 Artist Statement: I have always appreciated and observed little details in nature. In this photo I was able to show the “bumps and holes” of the lichen as it’s growing on the tree branch. In creating this image, I experimented with digital solarizing, exploring color adjustments that I’ve never thought of before. This photographic effect makes all the little details pop. Teacher: Patricia Palmer, Canton High School
Drowning
Organization or School Affiliation: Millis High School-Art Dept
Student Name: Genesis Figueroa Grade: Grade 12 Artist Statement: Most days, my phone is just an object bringing unprecedented anxiety. "Drowning" is the constant suffocation I feel whenever I open my phone. It's a self portrait, using a contrast of sharp reds against calm blues to juxtapose my life without and with my phone in hand. In a world where technology rapidly is bettering our lives, I feel like we're drowning in it. Teacher: Amy Radcliffe
AnxieTease
Organization or School Affiliation: Millis High School-Art Dept
Student Name: Emily Steiner Grade: Grade 12 Artist Statement: This multimedia piece is a representation of a complex, intense, very emotionally active and sensitive internal state. It encapsulates the cycle of anxiety and how it continuously feeds itself. I love the poignant vibrancy produced by the liquid watercolor and pastel. I blended oil pastels and engaged in various brushwork, including smooth circular motions and rougher, messier strokes. Teacher: Amy Radcliffe
Blooming
Organization or School Affiliation: Fontbonne The Early College of Boston
Student Name: Caroline Wosny Grade: Grade 11 Artist Statement: Every year, spring comes around, flowers are blooming, colors are vibrant, the earth regains its soul. Then as the year goes on,they slowly change colors. Before we know it, winter comes around and the earth feels barren and lonely. As flowers bloom, so do we. Every human is a flower. Let us appreciate all of our petals, even when they aren't at their peak.
Teacher: Nicole Robertson
Falling
Organization or School Affiliation: Fontbonne The Early College of Boston
Student Name: Sophie Minihane Grade: Grade 11 Artist Statement: As we grow up, parts of us change. We lose parts of ourselves to the challenges we face. When leaves fall from trees in autumn, this shows the age of the tree. Every year, the tree goes through changes but always grows back older, wiser, and stronger. Similarly, we go through challenges, and we are forced to grow up and change as well.

Peaceful Place
Organization or School Affiliation: Pembroke High School
Student Name: Chris McNamara Grade: Grade 11 Artist Statement: I created a monochromatic landscape with red. I enjoyed mixing tints and tones to produce many different values of the color. Making the mountains were challenging yet relaxing to layer textures creating a stark contrast between the sky and ocean. My inspiration came from my mind and not a resource image. I enjoyed freestyling with elements of the composition that emerged as the painting evolved. Teacher: Lauren Savoia
Purfect Portrait
Organization or School Affiliation: Pembroke High School
Student Name: Emily LaVallee Grade: Grade 10 Artist Statement: This scratchboard depicts a cat viewing the observer. I used an exacto knife to etch marks on the board to capture the essence of my grandmother’s cat, Sunny. Through slim, sharp, bold lines I captured Sunny’s character. These features, which range from long and pronounced scratches to subtle wisps of grooves, allowed me to properly convey the distinct amiability and ethereality Sunny carries. Teacher: Lauren Savoia
Tangled
Organization or School Affiliation: Pembroke High School
Student Name: Sarah DeCoste Grade: Grade 11 Artist Statement: Using micron pens, this work is inspired by a still life. I was inspired by the art style of Markus Blanchard, a tattoo artist in Salem. I chose this artist because his work uses sharp crisp lines with heavy contrast. This work is tedious and requires a lot of attention to detail. This was a very interesting process as it was out of my comfort zone. Teacher: Lauren Savoia
Lightening-Travis Scott
Organization or School Affiliation: Pembroke High School
Student Name: Brenna Jenkins Grade: Grade 12 Artist Statement: The lighting bolts in this image match the feelings Travis Scott's music gives me. I feel the energy of the lightning largely expressed by his music and his dynamic performances. My process started out by sketching and then using charcoal to complete the portrait. I knew this piece had to have a hint of color, as the portrait is black and white. Teacher: Lauren Savoia
Beloved
Organization or School Affiliation: Pembroke High School
Student Name: Markus Lovelace Grade: Grade 12 Artist Statement: This painting was created for a coworker whose beloved cat just died of old age. Using acrylics with a green background I sketched the composition and created content with a mix of gouache and acrylic to finish the apiece.

Body Scheme
Organization or School Affiliation: Oliver Ames High School
Student Name: Nicollette Mathers Grade: Grade 12 Artist Statement: All my life I have had unlimited access to compare myself to the falsehood of the female body. "Body Scheme" is a micrography illustration that calls attention to my struggles growing up in the height of social media. I used the words ugly, insecure, and overweight to illustrate the composition. I repeatedly overlapped the words to create different values throughout the piece.
